Teen Invisalign® in Philadelphia, PA

The majority of our patients receive orthodontic care during adolescence but often are concerned with how they will look with traditional, metal braces. Board-certified orthodontist Dr. Sam Kadan is proud to offer Invisalign Teen® as an alternative orthodontic option to traditional metal braces to help Philadelphia teens feel more confident about undergoing orthodontic treatment.

What is Invisalign Teen®?

Invisalign Teen® is a leading orthodontic alternative to metal braces that uses clear aligners instead of the traditional brackets and wires. The aligners fit onto the teeth much like a mouth guard or teeth whitening tray. The patient receives a series of these aligners, with each one applying a progressive amount of pressure on the teeth, comparable to the way traditional braces position the teeth into their proper place. The aligners are worn day and night, for a minimum of 22 hours, and are only removed for eating and oral hygiene tasks. Every two weeks, the patient will change their aligner to the next one in the series.

What Can I Expect From Invisalign Teen®?

You can expect treatment with Invisalign Teen® to involve:

  • Wearing the aligner a minimum of 22 hours each day
  • Changing to the next progressive aligner every 10 to 14 days
  • Only removing the aligner to eat, brush, and floss
  • Visiting Dr. Kadan for appointments every two to three months

Is Invisalign Teen® Right for Me?

Dr. Kadan suggests Invisalign Teen® to adolescents with moderate to severe dental issues related to:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Improper bite
  • Spaces or gaps between the teeth
  • Overcrowded teeth
  • Protruding teeth

What are Some of the Practical Advantages of Invisalign Teen® Over Traditional Braces?

You may have asked some of your friends about their experiences with traditional, metal braces. They likely explained the issues they have encountered with having brackets and wires on their teeth, especially if they are involved in sports. Unlike traditional, metal braces, Invisalign Teen® has the following benefits when it comes to extracurricular activities and things you enjoy:

  • You are less likely to experience cheek and lip injuries caused by sports-related impacts to your face and mouth.
  • If you play a wind instrument, Invisalign Teen® will not interfere with your ability to play.
  • There are no diet restrictions.
  • You can continue to brush and floss your teeth as you do today.
